Welcome to

WAGGAMAN FAIRGROUNDS
7500 Live Oak Blvd.
Proudly built by the people of Waggaman
For the people of Waggaman
An all purpose fairgrounds providing an economical venue for activities in the Waggaman area

At last, a place for the community to host:
Horse shows, Rodeos, Livestock shows, Arts and Crafts shows, Dog or Cat shows, Car shows, Gun and Knife shows, 4H shows, Scout meetings, Fishing, Hunting & Boating shows, Barbeque and Cookoff contests, Auctions, Church Fairs, School Festivals, RC car and plane racing, Flea Markets, Motorcycle rallies, Concerts, Bike Nights, Cruise nights, Revivals, Political rallies, Training sessions, and many other local events.

Features: A 14 acre site with an 100 by 250 foot covered, semi-enclosed arena.
Located in an industrial area with easy access to Hwy 90 and the River Road and away from residential areas.
Probable additional add-on of a 20 by 250 foot drop shed on one side to cover the bleachers.
Addition of pens, panels and fences for animals and livestock.
Portable concessions until a permanent stand is added.

The Waggaman Fairgrounds is designed to be an inexpensive economical venue for local activities and is not intended to be a high priced venue to compete with the Alario Center, Ponchartrain Center and the New Orleans Arena for high priced and national events.

Plans are for the civic associations to build it with donations from the Waggaman community and then to donate it to the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department.

Please contact the S1 Civic Group or the Waggaman Civic Association for further information or to offer your services.

EMAIL Dudley Hartz, Project Coordinator

This project would not be possible without the contributions from our friends and neighbors.
Please contact us with your pledges and we will post them here.
Contributions pending so far are:
14 acres of land will probably be donated by Willswood Plantation LLC. pending on Core of Engineers decisions.

Why do we need a Fairgrounds?
We need the Fairgrounds to preserve our greenspace and our country way of life in Waggaman.
All the property north of Live Oak Blvd. used to be zoned S1. It was rezoned to Industrial zoning because certain parties did not want homes to be built close to the landfills. As the Huey P. Long Bridge nears completion, more and more businesses will be relocating to our area. The Fairgrounds will help preserve green space in this area and may attract some other recreational interests to build here also. If we do not preserve the green space, Live Oak Blvd. may look like this in years to come.
